The terms of sale and the end-user license for the LimoAudio plugins, sound packs and online services.

These terms apply when you buy, download, install or use a LimoAudio plugin or sound pack, and when the plugins use our online services. We have kept them short and plain. If you are a consumer, nothing here takes away the rights the law gives you.

1. Who we are and what these terms cover

LimoAudio is made by Frinet Tmi (“Frinet”, “we”, “us”), Matinkatu 3C15, 55100 Imatra, Finland. Business ID 1770012-6, VAT FI17700126. Email [email protected].

These terms cover:

  • the LimoAudio plugins (LimoSynth, LimoFX, LimoMaster, LimoTune, LimoMidi, LimoMeter, LimoMixer, LimoDrum, LimoDAW and LimoArranger) in every format we publish, with the sounds and presets that come with them;
  • the sound packs sold or given away on this site;
  • purchases made from limoaudio.com;
  • the online services the plugins use: registration, license refresh, pack downloads, update checks and AI features.

The plugin installers point to this page. By installing or using a plugin, you accept these terms.

2. Your LimoNote account

  • You need a free LimoNote account to buy and to register. It is the same account used by LimoNote and LimoStudio, and your purchases and licenses belong to it.
  • The LimoNote terms of service cover the account itself and its AI credits. These terms cover the plugins and the packs.
  • Keep your sign-in safe. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
  • If you buy or use the plugins for a business, you accept these terms on its behalf.

3. What you buy: a license

  • When you buy a plugin, you buy a license to use it. The software itself is not sold to you: we and our licensors keep all rights to it, and to the content that comes with it.
  • The license is perpetual. You pay once. There is no end date and no subscription.
  • The license is personal. It belongs to the person who owns the account, and it covers every computer that person uses. There is no machine limit. If several people use the plugins at the same time, for example in a school or in a studio with several rooms, each of them needs their own license.
  • A license covers the plugin in all the formats we publish it in. Today that is AU, VST3 and Standalone for macOS.
  • LimoAudio Complete gives you a license for each plugin on sale on the day you buy it. Your account page lists them.

4. The trial

  • Every plugin runs unregistered as a fully functional trial. Nothing is locked, and there is no time limit.
  • The trial has one reminder. When a plugin has played for 30 minutes with none of its windows open, its output dips by about 9 dB for about 5 seconds, once a minute. This stops when you open the plugin’s window or register. (LimoMidi plays its notes more softly instead.)
  • You may use the trial for as long as you like, under the same rules as a license (sections 6 and 7).

5. Registering a plugin

  • In any plugin, open ☰ → Register… and choose one of two ways: sign in with the LimoNote account you bought with (a code opens in your browser), or paste the license key from your purchase email or your account page.
  • One license file covers every LimoAudio plugin you own, and every LimoAudio plugin on the Mac reads it. Register in one plugin and they are all registered.
  • Signing in needs an internet connection once. Pasting a key needs none. After that, the plugins work offline.
  • Your license key carries your name and email address. Do not share or publish it.
  • There are no dongles and no machine limits, and we don’t tie your license to a machine. When a signed-in plugin refreshes its license, it sends us a hashed device ID and the names of the host, the operating system and the plugin. We keep this list with your account, so that unusual use can be seen and stopped (for example, one account registered on a large number of machines).
  • If a license is revoked (after a refund, or under section 15), a signed-in plugin notices at its next refresh and returns to the trial.

6. Using the plugins

You may:

  • install and use the plugins you have a license for on every computer you use;
  • use them for any music, sound or production, personal or commercial: for yourself or for clients, in releases, films, games, broadcasts and live shows. You pay no royalties, and you don’t need to credit us;
  • keep what you make. The music, recordings and presets you create are yours.

You may not:

  • copy, share, sell, rent, lend or give away the plugins, your license or your license key, or move a license to another account, except where the law gives you that right;
  • remove or get around the licensing, or help anyone else do so;
  • reverse-engineer, decompile or disassemble the plugins, except as far as the law expressly allows it.

7. Sounds, presets and sound packs

  • You may use the factory sounds and presets in the plugins, and the sound packs from this site, in your own music and productions, commercial ones included. You pay no royalties, and you don’t need to credit us.
  • You may not pass the content on as content. That means you may not share, sell or give away the presets, sample banks, samples, loops or kits themselves (as they are, edited, or converted into another format), or use them to make a sample library, sound pack or preset collection.
  • Each pack names the plugin it is for. Once you have a pack, it is yours to keep. Nothing in it is locked, it keeps working offline on every Mac you register, and you can download it again from your account page or from the plugin’s Store tab.
  • Some packs are made by independent sound designers. We sell them under these terms.
  • Some packs and factory banks are built from recordings that their authors released under an open license, such as Creative Commons CC0 or CC BY. The pack’s license text names them. Those recordings stay under their own license, and these terms don’t restrict what that license allows. Where that license asks for something, follow it: CC BY, for example, asks you to credit the authors. Our rules above apply to our own work: the presets, programming, editing, looping, artwork and the bank itself.
  • Free packs follow the same rules.

8. Public betas and pre-release plugins

  • Plugins marked Public beta on this site are sold with a full, perpetual license, under the same trial and refund rules as the others. They work, but they are still changing. Expect rough edges, and bigger changes between versions than in a finished plugin. Please tell us what you find.
  • LimoArranger is a pre-release plugin and is not on sale. You may use it as a trial under these terms, and testers we invite may get a license for it from us.

9. Updates

  • Your license includes updates. Every new version we publish of a plugin you own is free for you; that is what “lifetime updates” means on this site. It is the lifetime of the product: we can’t promise to develop a plugin forever, or that new versions will keep supporting older computers and systems.
  • An update is the same installer, run again, from the downloads page. A plugin’s About dialog tells you when a newer version is out. Keep all your LimoAudio plugins on the same version, because they work together.
  • We always provide the updates the law requires, such as the fixes needed to keep a plugin working as described.

10. Online services and AI features

  • The plugins use our online services at limonote.app to register and refresh your license, to download the sound packs you own, and to check for new versions. A registered plugin, and the packs you have installed, keep working without these services.
  • AI features (an AI tab, stem separation, generation) send your request, and any audio you choose to include, to the service that runs it. They need your LimoNote account and use its credits. They are part of the LimoNote service, so the LimoNote terms of service apply to them, to credits and to the results, including the conditions that some AI models come with.
  • AI results can be wrong or unexpected, so check them before you rely on them. You are responsible for what you send (you must have the rights to it) and for how you use the results.
  • We may change the online services as we improve them. If we ever plan to end one, we will tell you in advance, so you can download what you own.

11. Prices and payment

  • Prices on this site are in euros. At checkout you see the final price in your own currency, with the VAT or sales tax that applies where you live, before you pay.
  • You buy on limonote.app, signed in with your LimoNote account, and Stripe handles the payment. Our checkout uses Stripe’s Managed Payments, so your order is sold through Link (Stripe’s checkout service) as the merchant of record. Link takes the payment, charges the tax and sends your receipt. We grant your license and deliver what you bought.
  • Your license is ready as soon as the payment goes through. It shows on your account page straight away, and we email you your license key.
  • If you already own some of the plugins in LimoAudio Complete, you pay the bundle price or the price of the plugins you are missing, whichever is lower. Checkout never charges you for a plugin your account already owns.
  • We may change prices. You pay the price that checkout shows you.
  • If a payment is reversed or disputed, we may revoke the licenses it paid for.

12. Refunds and your right of withdrawal

  • 14-day refund. If you change your mind, ask for a refund within 14 days of your purchase and you get your money back in full. You don’t need to give a reason.
  • To ask, write to [email protected] from the email address of your LimoNote account (or tell us that address), and say what you bought. A short message is enough.
  • We refund to the payment method you used, within 14 days of your message.
  • When we refund, the license ends. Stop using the plugins it covered, and delete any refunded sound pack. A signed-in plugin returns to the trial by itself at its next refresh.
  • If you are a consumer in the EU, this refund includes your legal right of withdrawal: you have 14 days to withdraw from an online purchase without giving a reason.
  • After 14 days we don’t give refunds for a change of mind. Your rights when something is faulty (section 13) still apply.

13. If something doesn’t work

  • The plugins and packs must be as described on this site and in their manuals, and work as described on the systems we list. If you are a consumer, this is your legal right, and these terms don’t limit it.
  • If something doesn’t work, tell us. We will fix it. If we can’t fix it within a reasonable time, you get a price reduction or your money back.
  • Before you buy, use the trial to check that a plugin works with your computer, host and setup. The trial is the full product.
  • Beyond this, and as far as the law allows, the software is provided “as is”. We don’t promise that it is free of errors, or that it suits every purpose, host or setup.

14. Liability

  • We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, or lost data or projects, unless we caused the loss intentionally or through gross negligence. Keep backups of your projects.
  • Our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us for the product concerned.
  • Synths and effects can make loud or unexpected sounds. Keep your monitoring at a safe level.
  • None of this limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited, or your rights as a consumer.

15. Ending a license

  • Your license lasts for as long as you follow these terms.
  • We may suspend or revoke a license if you seriously break these terms: for example, by publishing or sharing your license key, selling or giving away access, cracking the licensing, or redistributing the content. If one account is registered on an unusual number of machines, we will look into it.
  • Before we act, we tell you why and give you a chance to respond, unless the abuse is obvious. If we got it wrong, we restore the license.
  • If a license ends, stop using the plugins and content it covered. Music you have already made stays yours.

16. Privacy

The plugins contact limonote.app to register a license and refresh entitlements, to fetch the sound packs you own, and to check for a newer version. When they register or refresh, they send a hashed device ID and the names of the host, the operating system and the plugin, which we keep with your account. Ask us and we will show you that list or remove a machine from it. Only when you use an AI feature (an AI tab, stem separation, generation) does a plugin also send that request, and any audio you choose to include, to the service that runs it.

17. Third-party components

The plugins include third-party and open-source components, used under their own licenses. Their notices ship with the plugins. VST is a trademark of Steinberg Media Technologies GmbH, registered in Europe and other countries. LimoAudio, LimoNote and LimoWarp are trademarks of Frinet. Other names are trademarks of their owners.

18. Changes to these terms

  • We may update these terms, for example when we add products or services, or when the law changes. The date at the top of this page shows the current version.
  • The terms that applied when you bought something keep applying to that purchase. A change never takes away a license you have already bought.
  • Changes to the online services apply from the date shown. If a change matters to you, we tell you by email before it takes effect.

19. Law and disputes

  • These terms are governed by the laws of Finland. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim in its courts.
  • If something goes wrong, contact us first. Most problems are sorted out quickly.
  • Consumers in Finland can get free help from the consumer advice service of the Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority, and can then take a dispute to the Consumer Disputes Board.
  • Consumers in other EU countries can get help with a cross-border dispute from the European Consumer Centres. In Finland, that is ECC Finland.
